Accutane, a medication used to treat severe acne, has been linked to suicide, depression, severe birth defects, and damage to the liver, kidneys, and colon. A congressional investigation of Accutane found that the suicide rate among Accutane users may be as high as two suicides per month, an unusually high number for any group, but especially high for otherwise healthy people who showed no signs of depression or thoughts of suicide before they started using Accutane.
